About Midtown, Houston, Texas
The Victorian-style residential neighborhood of Midtown was originally created in the 19th century as a residential neighborhood. It is located just west-southwest of Downtown Houston, separated by an elevated section of Interstate 45, and is bordered by Montrose to the west, the Museum District to the south, and Interstate 69 to the east. Fueled by an influx of new residents and businesses, Midtown gained a new life in the 2000s. Since then, Midtown has continued its rapid development with a renewed interest in the neighborhood’s culture and nightlife.

Every time you try one of their tasty treats, you’ll have to ask yourself, “Is this really vegan?” It’s just that good!
Across from Will Jones Elementary School is Elizabeth Baldwin Park, 4.88 acres located on Elgin Street, between Crawford and Chenevert. In 1912, a stone fountain was built in the park and dedicated to the wife of Houston’s founder, Charlotte Allen. The serenity of the now defunct fountain hides a fascinating history that involves a wife’s double-dealings, forgery, and murder! But that was many years ago and the Baldwin Park of today is a serene green space that’s perfect for those looking to enjoy Texas at its finest. New trees have been planted to supplement the 100 year old specimens that were there at the park’s creation, and a crushed granite jogging trail is a great new feature for exploring.
Twelve years ago, four arts organizations came together to create a place where they could collaborate, create, and present their broad spectrum of the arts to a broader audience. This collaboration became the Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston (MATCH), Houston’s premier performance venue for small and mid-sized arts organizations. What was once a dream among smaller performance groups has grown into a space that includes 4 performance areas, 3 rehearsal studios, and 3000 square feet of gallery space. Visitors can enjoy nightly performances of dance, music, theatre, the visual arts, film, and other disciplines.
